Bywater District…

Although I lived in New Orleans for 8 years while going to college, graduate and law school, I had never heard of an area called the Bywater. But, last weekend I was lucky enough to discover what so many have already. The area has seen a rejuvenation lately and seems to be an area for artists and eclectic types. It is one of the few areas that were pretty much untouched by the Katrina flooding, leaving all of the interesting old architecture intact.  We went to dinner at an interesting little restaurant, Oxalis, and then drank a few adult beverages afterwards at Markey’s, both in the Bywater.  The next day, I returned with my camera to try and capture some of the personality the neighborhood has so proudly had on display.
